Pssssst! Instant Dry Shampoo…

I think for those of you who have read my hair care reviews know by now that my hair is a bloody mess… dry, frizzy, chemically treated, damaged beyond repair, etc. So the last product I should be using is a dry shampoo. For those who may not understand what a dry shampoo does, let me explain… it basically dries your hair; gets rid of oily patches. Which is helpful when you don’t want to (or have the time to) wash your hair everyday. And this is exactly what I have been trying to do, or not do, for the past 2-3 weeks now.

However, because my hair tends to be more dry than oily, once in a while I can actually go two days without washing it. This depends heavily on the shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatment and/or styling product I happened to be using. My hair seems to have many personalities… as do I :)

Nevertheless, I decided to give this product a test drive to see what it would do to my locks on those particular days when they need a little volume and oil clean-up. {I have also tried TRESemme Dry Shampoo, post filed under cat: shampoo/and conditioner}. So I wouldn’t regret this pruchase, I used the product as directed: shake vigorously, hold 6″ to 8″ from hair, lightly spray scalp and roots (shake can between usage), wait a few minutes and brush throughly… I usually do this part with my fingertips, brushing causes more damage to my hair.

After all of that, I noticed that my hair was still attached to my head… always a good sign. I also noticed the lack of white residue, which dry shampoos tend to leave behind. In fact, the last time I used a dry shampoo it looked as if I was going grey, not a good look for a brunette. So besides this lovely perk, I really took a fancy to the fact that it was able to dry my oily patches, without drying out the rest of my rat’s nest or causing further damage. And because it was able to do all of this, I was able to go another day without washing my hair. So, yes, this product is definitely something I will keep handy, but will not be using regularly. For obvious reasons, I hope.
